Environmental Award
Atlas Dry Cleaners is a leader in waste reduction
in its industry and was recently recognised for its work and research
at the "Keep Australia Beautiful Environmental Awards".
Atlas is a signatory to the Western Australian Cleaner Production
Statement and is a member of the WA Sustainable Industry Group.
Environmental Policy
Atlas has introduced environmental procedures
in line with the environmental policy of many industries. The company
has adopted responsible industry work practices relating to the
safe handling of solvents, the use of non toxic spotting chemicals,
the safe operation and maintenance of plant equipment and the disposal
of trade waste. The company monitors closely vapour solvent levels.
Recycling of products such as coat hangers, is encouraged.
Curtin University of Technology has recognised
the environmental efforts made by Atlas Dry Cleaners.
Australian Standards and Codes of Practice
 The
work at Atlas is carried out using the latest technology so that garments
are cleaned more efficiently, particualarly delicate fibres and fabrics.
Production adheres strictly to government legislation
and recommended industry codes of practice. The company has developeed
and implemented policies and procedures which comply with Australian
Standards and the drycleaning industry's Code of Practice for Plant
and the Code of Practice for the Safe Handling of Perchloroethylene.
